The Diamond Ring, with prominences
The moon glides in front of the sun, allowing us to see massive bands of plasma that loop from the suns surface, sometimes for weeks. These are different to solar flares that cause our beautiful aurora.
For context, this photo of the sun would let me stack 109 Earths across. To me that gives me a reference to understand how large these bands of plasma really are. For example the one at the very top stands around 3-4 Earth’s in my estimation
