‘Light Pillars over Borrowdale’
A beautiful night in the Northern Lake District spent by the old jetty at Watendlath. In the sky above Catbells, light pillars can be seen, a rare sight and one I’ve never seen before or since over the lakes. They are formed by ice crystals in the atmosphere and they glow like pillars as the light pollution shines up them and creates this amazing phenomenon.
