A Billion Stars over the Gap

from £65.00

The winter Milky Way arches down across the sky over Sycamore Gap & Hadrian’s wall late one winter’s night.  In the sky, the constellations of Cassiopeia, Andromeda and Perseus.  The Double Cluster also visible in Perseus.  The Double Cluster consists of the open clusters NGC 869 & NGC 884 and both lie 7500 light years from Earth.   To the left of the tree, you can see our sister galaxy Andromeda.  This is the most distant object visible to the naked eye in our night sky and lies 2.537 million light years away and consists of a trillion stars.  Our two galaxies are hurtling towards each other at 300,000 mph, set to collide in around 3.4 – 4.5 billion years

The tree itself used to lie right on Hadrian’s Wall, a roman wall that snakes right across the North of England from North Cumbria to the Eastern coast.  This Sycamore tree was one of the most recognisable and famous trees in the UK and was a place I loved to visit at night with my dogs.  It is much missed….

Everything is printed using the finests papers & ink so will never fade
All mounts are a light Ivory mount
Frames are traditional Oak or Painted Black
Both standard glass & ART glass are UV resistant

Everything is made locally to the highest standard using Cumbrian businesses
