Cumbria Wildlife Hides

Follow the Journey

Hidden within a private woodland in North Cumbria, an exciting wildlife photography project is taking shape.

The woodland is currently undergoing careful habitat enhancement and conservation-focused management to create a thriving environment for a diverse range of native British wildlife. Alongside this work, a series of dedicated wildlife photography hides are being developed to provide photographers with unique opportunities to observe and capture wildlife in its natural surroundings.

This is a long-term project built around a simple philosophy:

Wildlife comes first

Through ongoing woodland management, habitat creation and environmental improvements, the aim is to support healthy populations of birds, mammals, insects and other native species while encouraging natural behaviour in a safe and undisturbed setting.

Every aspect of the project is focused on creating an environment where wildlife can flourish naturally while providing exceptional opportunities for observation and photography.

As the project develops, subscribers will receive regular updates, including:

• Wildlife sightings and video footage from around the woodland

• Progress updates on the photography hides

• Habitat improvement and conservation work

• Seasonal wildlife highlights and species discoveries

• Behind-the-scenes insights into the development of the site

• Early access opportunities when the hides become available

The vision is to create one of North Cumbria's most rewarding wildlife photography experiences, offering visitors the chance to photograph native species in a carefully managed private woodland setting.

Whether you are a wildlife photographer, birdwatcher, conservation enthusiast or simply someone who enjoys British wildlife, you are invited to follow the journey from the very beginning.

Our woodland hide

A peaceful forest clearing with sunlight streaming through trees and two Border Collies standing in the grass.

Hidden away in the foothills of the northern Lake District lies our woodland photography hide. A beautiful tranquil woodland, privately owned and full of wildlife, its a stunning location and a perfect place to spend time to capture amazing photographs of the wildlife.

We are currently working in the woodland to remove Ash (due to dieback), work on the hide and get the woodland ready for replanting next winter. Because of this the hide is closed for now but will be up and running later on this year.

More information and photos will be following very soon
