Join award-winning astrophotographer Ben for a 2-night Lake District astrophotography course. Experience two nights under pristine dark skies and two guided daytime editing sessions at Studio 5 in Wigton, where you’ll capture and process stunning images of the Milky Way, star trails, and deep space objects.

Who This Course is For

This astrophotography workshop is ideal for photographers already familiar with their camera who want to move into night sky and deep space photography. Beginners can book a 1-2-1 introductory session to learn the basics, giving them the skills to join a full course and make the most of the experience.

What’s Included

  • Night 1 – Lake District Astrophotography: Capture the Milky Way, star trails, and dramatic night landscapes. Learn long exposures, stacking, and light painting techniques in some of the Lake District’s most scenic locations.

  • Night 2 – Deep Space Imaging: Telescopes, star trackers, and mounts are provided to photograph distant galaxies, nebulae, and other deep space objects invisible to the naked eye.

  • Daytime Editing Sessions at Studio 5, Wigton: Professional guidance in stacking, alignment, and post-processing to bring out the detail in your night sky and deep space images.

We’ll start on the first evening with introductions and a relaxed discussion about your photography experience, goals, and the weekend plan. The schedule will be tailored around weather conditions to make the most of clear skies and ideal shooting opportunities.

Schedule

Night 1 – Night Sky & Astro Foundations

  • Full night shooting under the stars in the Lake District

  • Single exposures, star trackers, stacking and light painting

  • Capture Milky Way compositions and experiment with long exposure techniques & equipment

Day 1 – Editing Session at Studio 5, Wigton

  • The nights photography looked at and understood. Editing & post processing

Night 2 – Deep Space & Long Exposure Imaging

  • Full night shooting under the stars in the Lake District

  • Use of telescopes, guiding systems, and wide-field long exposures

  • Capture galaxies, nebulae, and other deep space targets

Day 2 – Advanced Editing Session at Studio 5, Wigton

  • Deep space image processing and blending

  • Advanced workflow for clarity and fine detail

  • Final image refinement & printing to hang on the wall
