Photographers road trip - Iceland

Join us on a road trip, chasing the light, the weather & the aurora on this trip of a lifetime

A trip designed by photographers for those who have the kit and know how to use it, allowing us to visit as many amazing lcoations as possible, while constantly keeping an eye for the amazing Northern Lights. There is no better place to see it and as we are approaching a solar maximum, 2026 is going to be the best year to photograph the lights for yourself.

An amazing way to see the ‘Land of Ice & Fire’ and to capturing the best of it with you camera

2026 is looking to be the best year for aurora on record. We are at a solar maximum so its the perfect time to chase the aurora around Iceland

If you have ever wanted to visit and know your camera and kit, then this could be the road trip for you.

This is a road trip aimed at those wanting to be shown Iceland though a photographers eyes. Its also a trip to talk photography, editing, composition & travel with other like minded souls.

A great adventure, a once in a lifetime experience,
an amazing way to experience Iceland

A large waterfall cascading from a cliff into a dark river below, with a small person standing at the base for scale, in a black and white photo.
Sunset over the ocean with reflections on the water and a rock in the foreground.

This is a flexible trip that allows us to follow the best of the weather and chase the conditions, stars & aurora so we can ensure the maximum chance of getting the shots we are after and capturing the best of the Icelandic landscape.

We will be in 2 Land Cruiser 4x4’s, allowing us to get off the beaten track and find those special locations. We only book accommodation as we go. We use a combination of guesthouses, hostels (good ones), lodges and apartments and on the trip, prioritising covering some distance and visiting some of the most spectacular places on planet Earth, and capture them with our camera’s. Due to there being more than one one driver, we can take turns and really cover some miles.  Doing it this way means that by using the Icelandic MET service and all the other apps and tools we can chase the best of the weather, light, aurora & stars and really concentrate on capturing the Iceland in the best conditions we can find, only being made possible by not being pre booked 300 miles away from where the aurora is happening.

Although we will be trying to visit as many locations as possible, we will always take our time and spend quality time at each location, allowing you time to really work on getting those once in a lifetime shots.  We will be on hand to help with any questions at all times too.

This trip is aimed at those who have their own kit and have a decent understanding on how to use it.  By no means do you need to be a professional photographer but the focus of this trip is photography and everything will be based around us getting the best shots possible, in the best light and conditions possible.

Guidance happily given but this is not a tuition trip. If you are unsure whether you have the skills, why don’t you come and join us in the Lake District for some tuition to make sure you are primed and ready to capture the best of Iceland
